Rap artist told to “forget music career” dream: Cried like a little girl

Aspiring Brisbane-based independent rap artist ‘MC McWang’ has been told to “forget music career” by his Asian parents. Counterculture’s resident gossip queen Penelope Razzi reports

For the past few days, MC McWang, an Australian-Chinese musician, has been earnestly pursuing his dream of being a “big star”.

Specialising in the genres of hip-hop and RnB, McWang has already begun penning his first track Wang Dynasty and plans to release an EP before 2010.

“Yo, what’s the go? I been writin’ beats that are heaps neat, I ain’t a tool, I is stayin’ cool,” McWang told Counterculture.

However, all good things must come to an end – and some even before they begin.

When McWang failed to appear in a scheduled vodcast on video sharing website Youtube yesterday, he was instead found in a corner of his bedroom sobbing out of control.

Witnesses and stalker fans confirmed that the 22-year-old “cried like a little girl” after being told he could not pursue a music career by his overbearing Asian parents.

“He go be doctor. He no choice,” Mrs Wang said.

“No, he go be lawyer first. Doctor later,” Mr Wang argued with his wife.

There has already been widespread support for McWang to continue chasing his dream, and the young musician has been offered a place on the new upcoming show Asia’s Got Tarent.

Despite his masculine ‘gangstah-tough’ image being tarnished by the media coverage over the incident, McWang is confident he can overcome any accusations of androgyny by photoshopping more facial hair onto his face.
